My Education: I received a BA in Organizational Management from Warner Southern University with an emphasis in mathematics and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. I also attended Brevard Community College, Bob Jones University, and Rollins College. I hold certifications from ACSI and the State of Florida in Mathematics 6-12. My Background: I was born in Florida and grew up in a very stable, loving home with two sisters and a younger brother. My mother stayed at home making a warm environment and my father was the project engineer on most of the bridges and road construction in South Brevard County since the 1960’s. One day a girl that I played with invited me to a church at the end of my street. I started attending every Sunday and in Vacation Bible School of that year I received Jesus as my Savior. I was eight years old. I believe the Lord ransomed me at an early age to reveal to me the importance of child evangelism. My heart is for the children and their salvation and my desire is to serve God in whatever way He desires of me. I have served in Children’s Bus Ministry, Children’s Sunday School, Children’s Church, Vacation Bible School, AWANA, mission trips to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Nicaragua. My husband and I have adopted a beautiful young lady from Nicaragua which we first met through one of our mission trips. My Position at MICS: This is my 21st year in education with 19 of those years teaching math and science at Merritt Island Christian School. My Interests: I love serving God wherever He directs, baking and spending time with my family: my husband of 28 years, Jaime, who is my mentor and best friend, my 24-year old daughter, Chrissy, graduate of MICS and UCF with a BA in Speech Pathology, my 22-year old son, Richie, graduate of MICS and currently attending Clearwater Christian College pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies, and my 15-year old daughter, Reyna, attending MICS and loving every minute. I also enjoy reading a good book with a cup of hot chocolate! My Faith and Learning Statement: I have always believed God has wanted me to teach in a Christian School. I still marvel when I look back at the steps of my life so far and see how God has guided and protected. I could not have planned it better. I want each of my students to see Jesus in me. My life verse is Philippians 3:14: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” I believe if I am obedient to God’s Word and am listening for His direction, He will bless and my prize will be to hear those words when my days are accomplished “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
