My Education: I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Welfare with a minor in Music.

My Background:  I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and lived in Atlanta, Newnan and Rome, Georgia until my family and I moved to Orlando, Fl. My father worked in the insurance business and property management and my mother was an English teacher. I have 3 sisters, 1 in Atlanta and 2 in Orlando. While I was attending FSU, I met my husband of 40 years, Emory. We lived in Columbia, South Carolina for a year where my husband served in the US Army. After his Army service, we moved to Miami and lived there for 36 years. We have five wonderful children: Robert, and his wife Sarah, Scott and Bridget and her husband, Bill. We are also blessed to have three beautiful granddaughters, Emily, Rachel and Leah.   I have served in the past on praise teams in different churches, taught Sunday school and led adult and children’s choirs. I taught elementary music at Princeton Christian School in Miami for 16 years before moving to MICS. This year I am beginning my 21st year of teaching and my fifth year here at MICS.

My Position:  I teach elementary music to all Kindergarten – 6th grade students. I am also the director of the 2- 6 grade choral group, Encore and the 4-6 grade show choir, Showstoppers.

My Interest:  I enjoy reading and scrapbooking and spending time with my family and especially with my grandchildren.

My Faith & Learning Statement:  I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was ten years old. I have continued to grow in my faith throughout my life. I know that God has called me here to serve Him at MICS and to share what He has equipped me to do. I believe that God did create music to be the universal language, one that crosses all boundaries and speaks to every heart.  My goal is to share the love of Christ with my students through music. My life verse is: ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil: 4:13.  I want my students to know that they can do anything with Jesus’ help and to be able to inspire others as they share God’s incredible gift of music.
