My Education: Graduated High School in Ohio; B.S. in Elementary Education with a degree in Bible from Ft.. Wayne Bible College in Indiana. I am currently working on my masters in Educational Technology K12. My Background: I was born in St. Louis, Missouri but moved to Chillicothe, Ohio when I was three. I lived there until I went to Indiana to college. I had enough of the cold and moved to Florida after I graduated and taught part of a year at MICS before the first shuttle exploded in 1986. I have been teaching for nearly 24 years with some breaks to raise three young children. I have one brother, who is younger teaching at Asbury College with his Doctorate degree. I have been married for 22 years to my wonderful husband, Steve Dixon. My Position: My homeroom class at MICS is a 5th grade class which I teach Bible. However, I teach Science to all 5th and 6th graders. This is my 9th year at MICS. My Interest: I enjoy crafts and reading a good Christian fiction book, however, I save those for the summer. I like to play sports. Nevertheless, I find most of my interests are centered on our children: Shawn (a Junior in college), Kellie (a Sophomore in college), and Jeremy (a Junior in high school). My Faith & Learning Statement: I don’t know where I would be without God. My life without God would be a total disaster. He is the one who keeps me balanced and facing the right direction. It is my goal to teach each student that comes through my classroom, that God is real. He is alive. God cares about each person, every thought, and every circumstance being faced. It doesn’t stop there, God cares how we handle each of these areas, which is why He said He will never leave us or forsake us. He knew it would be tough. I want my students to know that God loves each of them and cares deeply. That is the reason God sent Jesus to die on the cross. That’s love! Science and God are so intricately intertwined. In science we discover and can see the vastness of God’s creation.
