My Education:  BS in Elementary Education and Bible minor from Pensacola Christian College

My Background :   I was born in Virginia, but raised in Miami, Florida where I attended and graduated from Westwood Christian School. I went on to graduate from Pensacola Christian College.  My high school sweetheart, Jonathan David Engler, and I have been married five years and are blessed with a beautiful little boy, Joshua Brayden. I am thankful for the godly home I grew up in and my only brother, Benjamin.  He has blessed the family with our sweet nephew, Gaugue Brayen.

My Position at MIC:  I love teaching the second graders of MICS!  It is my seventh year as a Christian school teacher.

My Interests:  I enjoy scrapbooking  yard work, singing, leading my church’s children’s choir, traveling, camping, hiking, and baking.

My Faith and Learning Statement:   I was raised in a godly Christian home, where I learned at a young age that my life was nothing without Christ. At age five, I accepted Christ as my Savior. In 7th grade, I responded to God's call to be a teacher. The older I got the greater my desire grew toward teaching children the great Bible truths that had affected my life. I believe the ultimate goal of every teacher should be to show Christ. Without a child-like understanding and accepting the Savior nothing academically will have purpose. When I can help a child see Christ, they will have a new and exciting reason to do their best. They no longer work because the teacher says, but, because they recognize God deserves their best. They see math as a means to organize as God's word says: "Do all things decently and in order." Their papers and tests are neater and more accurate because they understand God's command: "In whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." They can enjoy science, health, and history fuller as they see God as Creator of our world, body, and King of the Nations. Reading, the goal of phonics, is taking them closer and closer to the ability to read and learn God's Word for themselves. I believe as we can't separate God from our daily activities we have to tie Christ into their daily academics.
