Mr. Jones' Web Page
My Education: I earned a BA in Spanish with a Greek minor and a BS in Pastoral Studies with a minor in music, both from Liberty University. I am currently in the process of earning a MA in Spanish Literature and Linguistics from UCF and a Masters of Divinity with a specialization in Evangelism and Church Planting from Liberty University. I have been taking various education courses as well to keep both my ASCI and my state teaching certificates current. My Background: Throughout my college years at Liberty, I was active in short-term foreign missions trips. After my first campaign on the mission field, I realized that I came home, but my heart stayed there. Therefore, upon graduation from Liberty, I accepted a job offer from the university developing a program that teaches leadership, evangelism, and Spanish on the field in Guatemala. I spent three and a half years living and working full-time in Central America, leading and orchestrating mission trips, food distribution programs, adoption programs, town building programs, teaching English and French in a private school, ministering to elderly and orphans, co-pastoring a local, native church and youth group, ministering to indigenous jungle tribes and building a foreign missions institute for Liberty University. My Position at MICS: Eventually, I felt the call of God pulling me back to the US, with the vision of spreading a passion within the local church for evangelism to the people of the world. I am currently implementing that same program in the foreign language department at Merritt Island Christian and the First Baptist Church Merritt Island Foreign Missions department. I am so excited to be able to train students and church members to share their faith in a foreign language and humbly serve others from their hearts. I was ordained as Reverend Robert Jones at First Baptist Merritt Island in November 2008, and I am now the MIC Campus Minister. I am in charge of chapel, retreats, missions, counsel to students and athletic teams, and the spiritual development of Merritt Island Christian School. My Interests: I enjoy anything having to do with Superman. My passion is learning new languages and experiences and learning from new cultures. I love soccer, hiking, camping, man-ball, martial arts, reading and writing books, riding my Harley and hanging out with my youth group kids at Firehouse. I hope to one day own an English Bulldog. My Faith and Learning Statement: It is my mission to be able to train students and church members to share their faith in a foreign language and humbly serve others from their hearts.
