My Education:  I was blessed with the opportunity to receive a life-changing educational experience at Wabash Collegein Crawfordsville, IN.  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Wabash College in 2003, with a major in History and a minor in Business.  I was also a two-time co-captain of the Wabash Football Team, which was an incredible experience for me.  After one season of coaching football at Whittier College in Los Angeles,CA, I returned to Wabash College for the 2004-2005 school year.  I completed a program at Wabash College called Transition to Teaching, which allowed me to become an accredited teacher.  I hold certification from the State of Florida in Social Studies 6-12 and ACSI (temporary).  I love the field of education and I am currently working on a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through the American College of Education.  As an educator, I consider myself a life-long learner, meaning there is always more for me to learn.

My Background:  I am a Hoosier!  This means I am a native of the great state of Indiana.  I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN.  I am blessed with the best family in the world.  My parents have been married for almost 40 years, and I have an older brother and younger brother, which makes me a middle child.  My older brother is married with two daughters.  My younger brother is married with one daughter.  I love being an uncle.  God called me to Floridain 2005, and I have loved every second of my time in the SunshineState.  I met my beautiful wife, Jamie (yes, we have the same name), here in Florida.  We married on April 4th, 2009, and we currently live in Cocoa, FL.  We have a dog, Roxy, and a cat, Wally.  We have been blessed with the gift of our daughter, Peyton, who was born in November 2010.  We are so excited to have her in our life!  God is so good!

My Position at MICS:  This is my 7th year of being part of the MICS family.  I teach Geography, Bible, and Weight Training in the Upper School at Merritt Island Christian School.  In addition to being an Upper School Teacher at MICS, I am also the Head Coach for the Varsity Boys Basketball Team and an Assistant Coach for the Varsity Football Team.  Teaching and coaching are both great forms of ministry, which is why I do this.  This is not a job; it’s a calling from God.

My Interests:  I love spending time with family and friends.  I spend the most time with my wife and daughter because I enjoy it.  We have a lot of fun together.  I am a sports fanatic!  I enjoy following sports, especially football and basketball.  I enjoy studying motivators.  Whether it’s being inspired to become a better Christian, a better person, a better husband, a better father, a better teacher, or a better coach, I love consuming quotes, speeches, and stories that inspire.  Other interests of mine are eating and watching television.

My Faith and Learning Statement:  God is so good!   It was definitely a journey, but I finally realized that God shaped me to teach and coach.  It is such an awesome feeling living in God’s will!  I want to impact lives for God.  It’s as simple as that.  I believe that teaching and coaching at Merritt Island Christian School is the most effective way for me to impact lives for God.  However, God can always change those plans.  I always have to be obedient to Him and His will for me.  For now, I love every single second at MICS.  Each and every one of my students and players is a blessing to me.  I want my students and players to have a passion for life and a love for God.  My personal mission is to impact lives for the glory of God.  My personal mission is to make attending Merritt Island Christian School one of the most incredible experiences of a person’s life.  One of my favorite Bible verses is Romans 12:11:  “Never be lazy in your work, but serve the Lord enthusiastically.”
