My Education: B.A. in Music Education from Shelton College; B.S. in Elementary Education from Cleveland State University

My Background: I was born and raised in Mentor, Ohio, which is also the home of former President James Garfield. Ohio is called the "Buckeye State" and is home to the Ohio State Buckeyes. I am the oldest of four children and have one niece, six nephews, and two great-nephews. I moved to Florida 9 1/2 years ago.

My Position at MIC:  I am in my eleventh year of teaching at MIC. I teach Language Arts for fifth and sixth grades. Prior to this, I taught fourth grade for eight years.

My Interests: I enjoy reading, especially historical fiction. In addition, I love to travel and have been able to visit Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Other interests include movies and music. I also play the flute in the church orchestra at FBCMI.

My Faith and Learning Statement: I believe that God is the Creator of all things and the Bible is divinely inspired by God. The Bible is he foundation and heart of Christian education. I strive daily to include Biblical instruction in all subject areas. We must be rooted and grounded in the truth of the Bible and must teach our students in the same way. As a Christian educator, my first priority is to lead my students to know Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior. I am responsible for teaching and guiding my students to seek after God in all aspects of their lives. Only then, can I help to arm my students both academically and spiritually to face the world.
