Program Profile & Overview

Merritt Island Christian Preschool offers a balanced childhood experience for three and four year olds by blending traditional values with a Christian curriculum and play opportunities, in the development of the whole child:  Socially, physically, emotionally, academically and spiritually.  Combining low student/teacher ratios and a caring, supportive, stimulating environment, we bring together a multitude of exciting activities every day that fosters a love of learning and a positive self-image in children.

 

Curriculum / Course of study

Merritt Island Christian Preschool's balanced curriculum is a blend of the child initiated and teacher-directed approaches to early childhood education. Through well-equipped classroom environments, trained caring teachers, A Beka curriculum, Bible Program, and exciting daily activities, a lifetime love of learning and success is developed in young children.

 

 

Preschool, Three-Year-Olds

  • Developmental skills taught through A Beka curriculum.

  • Bible time and memory verses, character application.

  • Recognition and formation of vowels and consonants.

  • Language development and listening skills that include color, words, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners, science.

  • Simple counting 1 to 50, and number concepts 1 to 15.

  • Perform a yearly musical program.

  • Spanish

  • Tumbling Program

Preschool, Four-Year-Olds

  • Developmental skills taught through A Beka curriculum.

  • Bible lessons of the old and new Testament, memory verses, character application.

  • Recognition of long and short vowels and consonants.

  • Sounding of blends, one and two vowel words.

  • Reading of sentences and stories with one and two vowel words.

  • Writing skills include formation of letters, blends, and words.

  • Language development and listening skills that include color words, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners, science.

  • Counting to 100 and concepts 1 to 20.

  • Technology program that reinforces our academic program, with a computer in each K-4 classroom.

Enrichment Programs

Our children enjoy  enriching programs incorporated throughout the curriculum that include Spanish, Tumbling, and four year olds learn computer skills with programs in Reading Readiness, Number Concepts, and Creative Writing.

 

Special Activities

Three year olds Shape Bakery, Preschool Harvest Celebration, Science Fair Expo, Winter Wonderland, International Day, and the Preschool Family Picnic are among an array of on-campus and off-campus events that enhance our children's early childhood experience
